Pier 66 Hotel and Marina – Snooze and Cruise
From the minute I entered this oasis in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I was hooked! I knew immediately that I made the right decision in booking this hotel as a precursor for my cruise with Princess Cruises. From the time of booking until check out, every employee we dealt with above and beyond with their customer service. Jodi went out of her way to find the best deal possible for our one night stay prior to our cruise. With Jodi’s assistance, I determined that the Snooze and Cruise package provided the biggest bang for the buck.
Snooze and Cruise Package
The Snooze and Cruise package included 1 night accommodation, 2 free drinks, 2 full buffet breakfasts and transportation to the cruise port. All of these little extras add up and the amount we paid for the Snooze and Cruise Package saved us a few bucks had we paid for these items separately.
The package didn’t include our transportation from the airport to the hotel. Not to worry though, there are taxi’s in abundance waiting at the airport to take you to wherever your little heart desires. It was a quick 20 minute drive to the hotel, which cost $20.00 U.S. (including tip). You do have the option of taking Uber if you wish to save a couple of bucks.
The hotel is located directly at the marina and within a couple of miles of the cruise port. In fact, it is so close, we were able to spot our ship from our breakfast table. There is a variety store directly across the street from the hotel where you are able to purchase wine, beer, snacks, etc. The hotel is not within walker distance to the beach or area attractions, but there is complimentary transportation that will take you there.
Pier Sixty-Six Hotel and Marina offer a wide variety of rooms ranging in price. You have a choice between rooms in a high-rise building, or in a 2 story building, which either front onto the marina or channel, or the pool. We chose a room on the 2nd floor fronting onto the channel. Once I saw the hotel, I know I would have been happy with any room location I chose, as I don’t believe there would be a bad location in the entire resort.
The room was basic, but extremely clean, which is most important to me. It had all of the amenities that I needed, including water, Starbuck’s coffee, a refrigerator, free wi-fi, in-room dining and the best of all – a balcony fronting directly onto the channel, which is why I chose this room.
Pier Sixty-Six Hotel and Marina boasts a whopping 5 restaurants, ranging from seafood, to fine dining to pub fare. We visited 4 of them during our 24 hour stay. I think the package should be renamed to be snooze, booze, food and cruise. Seriously though, every single restaurant/bar we visited was outstanding!
Orchid’s Pool Bar is the perfect spot for lunch or pub fare. If you enjoy eating outdoors then this is the spot for you. They also provide bar service at the pool.
Pelican Landing offers the most mouth-watering salmon I have had in my lifetime, not to mention a magical view of the harbor. You will have the choice of dining indoors or outdoors. For me the bonus at this restaurant was that there was a rule of “no cell phones allowed”.
Grille 66 & Bar offers seafood. I did not dine at this restaurant, so I am not in a position to personally attest to it.
The Lounge is the perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail with your new-found friends and offers views out onto one of the most well-kept grounds that I have seen
Mariners is a typical breakfast room, which offers a full buffet, if you have purchased the Snooze and Cruise Package, or if you purchase it separately. Otherwise, a continental breakfast is offered. The room is large and looks out onto the front grounds. If you are lucky, you will be able to see the cruise ships.
While this hotel offers every amenity you could possible think of, the most outstanding amenity by far was the pool. I guarantee you that it would rival any Caribbean Resort that I have been to.
In addition, to the amazing pool, Pier Sixty-Six Motel and Marina offers Poolside Activities, which includes lawn games, volleyball, cornhole, croquet and life-size chess.
The hotel will happily assisting you in arranging fishing charters, boat rentals, kayak rentals, waterboard rentals, and snorkeling. The list of water sports here are endless.
- complimentary beach shuttle is provided
- business resources, including fax, computer
I am sure that by reading this review, that you can tell that I would rate the Pier Sixty-Six Hotel and Marina a full 10 out of 10. I absolutely LOVED this resort and if you are cruising, I HIGHLY recommend that you get the Snooze and Cruise package, although with all of the amenities available, I can guarantee that you won’t be doing too much snoozing.
Let me know if you have ever stayed at this hotel, I would be interested in knowing what your thoughts of this hotel were.
