Why Choose Princess Cruises for the ABC Islands?
Princess Cruises has long been one of my favourite cruise lines, mainly due to the variety of itineraries offered. The cruise line is well known for its combination of comfort, service, enrichment, and discovery, and my cruise to the ABC Islands didn’t disappoint.

The ABC Islands was my eighth cruise with Princess. On every single cruise I enjoyed:
- World-class dining, including regional Caribbean-inspired dishes
- Spacious decks and quiet corners perfect for relaxation
- Exceptional nightly entertainment and enrichment programs
- A welcoming atmosphere ideal for solo and senior travellers
- Princess MedallionClass® technology, making everything from boarding to dining effortless
Aruba: Sun-Drenched Beaches & Island Excursions

Your ABC adventure begins in Aruba, an island famous for its postcard-perfect beaches and endless sunshine. With wide stretches of soft white sand, inviting turquoise water, and a lively yet laid-back vibe, it’s no wonder Aruba is a long-time traveller favourite.
Princess offers a variety of curated shore excursions, including:
- Jeep tours through Arikok National Park
- Visits to the Natural Bridge and Alto Vista Chapel
- Catamaran snorkelling trips to the Antilla shipwreck
- Beach day escapes to Eagle Beach or Palm Beach

I opted for an off-road excursion in Aruba. It not only was a ton of fun, it also provided the opportunity to visit the Natural Bridge, Alto Vista Chapel, and the California Lighthouse, with some free time at Arashi Beach.
If you prefer exploring independently, the colourful capital, Oranjestad, offers shopping, restaurants, and charming Dutch-Caribbean architecture.
Bonaire: A Haven for Nature and Marine Life

The quiet and peaceful island of Bonaire is the hidden gem of the ABC Islands. In fact of the entire Caribbean. It’s extensive sea life has aided Bonaire in becoming known as one of the world’s best destinations for snorkelling and diving.
Bonaire is an island which is ideal if you’re seeking time in nature, tranquility and authenticity.
Highlights on Bonaire include:
- Shore snorkelling, often just steps from the beach
- Glass-bottom boat tours for non-swimmers
- Flamingo sanctuaries and salt flats
- Exploring Washington Slagbaai National Park

Bonaire is especially appealing to seniors and solo travellers looking for a calm, enjoyable day ashore, which is why I opted to do a “resort excursion”. Unlike Aruba and Curacao, you won’t find your typical large scale resorts in Bonaire. They are much smaller, homier, and most of all they’re more laid back.
From my resort beach pool, I was able to snorkel right from the beach or swim in the pool. I also didn’t have to walk far (or at all) to get another rum punch.
Just One Tip: When visiting Bonaire, I highly recommend not missing out on the sea life. Even if you aren’t a snorkeller or diver, you can still spot the colourful fish from shore.
Curaçao: Colourful Culture & Caribbean Charm

Curaçao perfectly blends Caribbean warmth with European flair. The capital, Willemstad, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its iconic row of pastel-coloured buildings lining the waterfront. As Princess docks nearby, you can easily see many of the attractions of the city on foot.
Must-see experiences include:
- Crossing the Queen Emma floating bridge
- Visiting the Handelskade waterfront for photos
- Browsing local markets and sampling Curaçaoan cuisine
- Joining excursions to Kenepa Beach, Hato Caves, or Shete Boka National Park

Curacao is one of the ABC Islands where it’s possible to save money. There are so many free things to do that no excursion is necessary.

A cruise isn’t always for everyone. I find you either love it or hate it. I admit, I’m not a fan of the crowds, but I love the food choices and the fantastic entertainment.

I’m not much of a cruise fan, but the ABC islands look beautiful. I would definitely want to do snorkeling from the shore in Bonaire. Your cruise sounded quite relaxing.
The ABC Island cruise was definitely one of my favourites and snorkelling right off the shore in Bonaire topped the list.
We’re headed to Curacao (sans cruise) in February but I loved reading about why you love the ABC islands. Thanks!
I love Curacao! It’s fun to just wander around and admire the buildings and people watch.
