Living Water Resort & Spa, Collingwood, Ontario – A Resort Review

Are planning a trip to Collingwood or Blue Mountains in Ontario?  I can guarantee that you will be over-whelmed with the hotel, resort and accommodation choices available to you.  I can also guarantee that if you don’t make reservations to stay in this area far in advance, you will have a limited choice of where to stay. What I’m trying to say is….book early!

Collingwood and Blue Mountains are year round tourist destinations, so be aware that there will be no off season at this destination.

I recently visited this area for some hiking and to visit the Scenic Caves  and the Living Water Resort & Spa was where I booked my accommodations.  This resort was exactly what I was looking for.

RESERVATIONS

A quick telephone call to the reservations desk and my reservation was made.  The attendant was friendly and professional and recommended that I get a room facing the harbour.  She was absolutely spot on with this recommendation!  The view from the balcony was breathtaking!

Just One Tip: Book a room with a view facing the harbour. Sit on your balcony and watch the boats and the sun set over the lake

CONCIERGE

As I had planned my visit based on items on my bucketlist, I had no need to consult with the concierge.  However, one week prior to my arrival, I did receive a telephone call to inquire as to whether I wished to make reservations at either the restaurant or the spa prior to my arrival.  If I hadn’t already planned out my stay, I would have made a reservation for the spa and the hydrotherapy for sure.  It looked amazing!

LOCATION

What can I say about the location?  To me, this was the seller of this resort.  The Living Water Resort & Spa is located adjacent to the harbour in Collingwood, away from the hustle and bustle of Blue Mountains, but only a short drive away.  It is also located in a central spot, making it easy to get to Wasaga Beach.  It couldn’t have been more perfect for what I was looking for.

PARKING

This resort provides ample parking and is free of charge. It does get busy and fills up fast and may be necessary to take a 1 minute walk from your car to the entrance of the hotel. This may be an issue when carrying a lot of baggage or if you have children.

ROOMS

The rooms are designed for those who want all of the amenities of home (which was me).  The rooms are equipped with a kitchen, featuring a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator and stove top, as well as all of the kitchen supplies you need to create a meal.  Each room as a flat screen television and offers an abundance of channels to choose from.

There are various types of rooms available at this resort, which include:

Hotel Room and Deluxe Room:       The basic hotel is equipped with a kitchen, as well as all of the supplies.  You will have your choice of 2 double beds or 1 king bed.  The basic room also offers a full bathroom, as well as a balcony.  There is ample room for a family of 4.

Family Suite:      The family suite is designed with families in mind, and offers 2 separate bedrooms, making it more optimal for privacy.  The family can enjoy each other, or watch television in the family room or the full kitchen.  The bathroom in the family suites, also offer a deep soaking Jacuzzi tub, which is perfect to relax in after a full day of hiking or skiing.

The Living Water Resort & Spa also offers handicapped rooms for those who need it, as well as adjoining rooms if you are travelling with another family or older children.

RESTAURANTS

The The Living Water Resort & Spa is home to The Lakeside Seafood & Grill.  This upscale restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which can be enjoyed either inside or on the outdoor patio overlooking the harbour.  Reservations to this fine dining restaurant are highly recommended.

AMENITIES

The The Living Water Resort & Spa was definitely designed with families in mind.  It has everything that you could possibly need in order to make the most of your stay. In fact, it is so family friendly that you might not want to leave.

  • Full kitchen facilities
  • Large indoor pool
  • Outdoor pool
  • Outdoor hot tub
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Free laundry facilities
  • Spa and hydrotherapy
  • Restaurants
  • Fitness classes
  • Golf at its sister resort
  • Playground
  • BBQ’s and picnic area
  • Fitness room
  • Location, Location, Location!

EVALUATION

The The Living Water Resort & Spa is an extremely busy resort, as are all of the resorts in the Collingwood and Blue Mountain area.    If you are inpatient in nature, then be forewarned that this resort only provides one elevator and at times you may have a small wait.

For a family or a couple wanting to partake in the one of the many activities in the Collingwood area, I highly recommend this resort. If your heart is set on having a quiet, relaxing and romantic vacation, then I don’t think that this resort would be for you.

JOIN ME TO SEE MORE RESORTS IN ONTARIO

I travelled solo to this resort, with hiking and exploring on the agenda.  It was the perfect choice for me to do what I had planned to do and was central to all activities that I had planned on partaking in.  When visiting Collingwood or Blue Mountains, I highly recommend that you make this resort your home base for the duration of your stay!

This hotel looks amazing! It has all the necessities plus some – I love a good outdoor hot tub ❤ I also think it's great that they called you a week in advance for reservations, it's considerate.

Looks like a really nice place to stay for a few days while exploring the surrounding area. I love that they have a pool and a great restaurant on site.

I really appreciate resorts that have kitchenettes. No matter how good a property’s food is, eventually I just want something simple to make as a break! I have only been in Toronto and need to explore much more of Ontario, this definitely looks like a good spot! Thanks for the insightful review!
