Welcome to My Own Backyard!

Welcome back to this week’s feature of In My Own Backyard! This week join me for a leisurely dinner cruise down the Grand River onboard one of Grand River Dinner Cruise’s three boats, the Grand River Princess, Grand River Queen, or Grand River Belle.

Directions to the Grand Experience Outdoor Adventure Company :: The Grand River

Grand River Dinner Cruises has been operating since 1978 and is located in the County of Brant, approximately 30 kilometres south of Hamilton, making it a short drive from Toronto.

Grand River Dinner Cruises

After arriving at the “port” of Grand River Dinner Cruises, you will be briefly entertained by the Blazing Fiddles prior to boarding.

Grand River Dinner Cruises offers a scenic 2 hour cruise down the Grand River while enjoying lunch or a roast beef dinner (which was REALLY good). Lunch is served Tuesday to Sunday and dinner is only served on Saturday’s and Sunday’s.

The Grand River Dinner Cruises offers a low-key, laid back atmosphere, away from the crowds and is the perfect way to spend a couple of hours. We all have to eat at some point, right?  And yes!  Alcoholic drinks are available for purchase!

All Aboard!
The Grand River Cruise offers both indoor and outdoor seating to allow you to enjoy the views throughout your cruise experience
The perfect way to enjoy the scenery!

While you are in the area, make sure that you explore one of Ontario’s big cities.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  During COVID schedules and amenities may change. Check the website when booking your cruise

I hope you enjoyed this week’s feature of In My Own Backyard.   I’m off exploring again to see what else I can find In My Own Backyard. Until next week…..

  1. Exactly like the Dolly Steamboat Cruise we have here in Phoenix! Love 2-hour dinner cruises. Can’t do the lunch here but in Grand Rapids probably yes!

  2. That looks so nice! I did a similar river cruise in Saskatoon on the South Saskatchewan River and loved it 🙂 We just did a sightseeing one but would love to do a dinner or sunset cruise. Seems like a great way to see areas you wouldn’t see otherwise!

    1. It was so relaxing. It cruised through the Indian Reserve which was cool. You are right. We got to see different things that we normally wouldn’t have seen.

  4. Its amazing how we find these little hidden gens right near us, and without a crowd. Thats one of the best things! We often venture out to such places in UK, and were completely stunned at how beautiful the place is, and how not many of them do no even know such a place exists!

  5. I would definitely enjoy a Grand River Dinner Cruise next time I’m near Toronto. It’s A good combination of things I love to do: eat, drink (in moderation), listen to music, and relax on the water. You are very lucky to have this in your back yard! I look forward to booking a visit when I’m in the area and the dining reopens. Can’t wait! (Plus, I love a good roast beef dinner…yum!)

  13. We have river cruising here too. It’s really fun. I prefer an evening to night cruise. A dim lit ambiance over few glasses of wine serves the best way to celebrate a weekend. I personally love spending a few hours on the water.

  14. Covid 19 is forcing us to discover local and that is not bad at all. I’m also getting to know my city more and more.

  16. Good that they’re still running, and I hope they’re managing to get enough business (despite the lack of meals available) to keep their business going. It’s great to see you supporting some local businesses on your doorstep. We all need to do a bit more of this.

  17. Oooh this sounds like it would make a great date! I love eating while watching the world go by…and it looks like such a relaxing place to have a glass of vino. 😉

Hopefully they will start running this again once covid-19 has calmed down.

  18. It’s funny – I’ve lived in the area my whole life and have never done this! My husband is from Dunnville so we’ve spent time near the Grand River often, but never a cruise. I’ll have to check it out!

  19. Wow this looks great and can’t go wrong with a nice roast for lunch! Anything away from crowds is my happy place. But what are Blazing Fiddles? I’ve not heard of this act before.
