Welcome to My Own Backyard!
Welcome back to this week’s feature of In My Own Backyard! This week join me for a leisurely dinner cruise down the Grand River onboard one of Grand River Dinner Cruise’s three boats, the Grand River Princess, Grand River Queen, or Grand River Belle.
Grand River Dinner Cruises has been operating since 1978 and is located in the County of Brant, approximately 30 kilometres south of Hamilton, making it a short drive from Toronto.
Grand River Dinner Cruises
After arriving at the “port” of Grand River Dinner Cruises, you will be briefly entertained by the Blazing Fiddles prior to boarding.
Grand River Dinner Cruises offers a scenic 2 hour cruise down the Grand River while enjoying lunch or a roast beef dinner (which was REALLY good). Lunch is served Tuesday to Sunday and dinner is only served on Saturday’s and Sunday’s.
The Grand River Dinner Cruises offers a low-key, laid back atmosphere, away from the crowds and is the perfect way to spend a couple of hours. We all have to eat at some point, right? And yes! Alcoholic drinks are available for purchase!
While you are in the area, make sure that you explore one of Ontario’s big cities.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: During COVID schedules and amenities may change. Check the website when booking your cruise
I hope you enjoyed this week’s feature of In My Own Backyard. I’m off exploring again to see what else I can find In My Own Backyard. Until next week…..
HAPPY SAILING 🙂
Kelly xoxo
Exactly like the Dolly Steamboat Cruise we have here in Phoenix! Love 2-hour dinner cruises. Can’t do the lunch here but in Grand Rapids probably yes!
That looks so nice! I did a similar river cruise in Saskatoon on the South Saskatchewan River and loved it 🙂 We just did a sightseeing one but would love to do a dinner or sunset cruise. Seems like a great way to see areas you wouldn’t see otherwise!
It was so relaxing. It cruised through the Indian Reserve which was cool. You are right. We got to see different things that we normally wouldn’t have seen.
This sounds so great. We have participated in river cruises in several places we have visited and have always had a good time.
They are so relaxing and beautiful. The perfect way to spend an evening.
Its amazing how we find these little hidden gens right near us, and without a crowd. Thats one of the best things! We often venture out to such places in UK, and were completely stunned at how beautiful the place is, and how not many of them do no even know such a place exists!
You are so right. I think a lot of people will be discovering just how beautiful their own backyard is
Looks like a wonderful place to relax and enjoy some beautiful scenery, good food and quiet time!
its very relaxing and the scenery isn’t to shabby either
I would definitely enjoy a Grand River Dinner Cruise next time I’m near Toronto. It’s A good combination of things I love to do: eat, drink (in moderation), listen to music, and relax on the water. You are very lucky to have this in your back yard! I look forward to booking a visit when I’m in the area and the dining reopens. Can’t wait! (Plus, I love a good roast beef dinner…yum!)
I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I’m sure its not the same without the food and booze.
That looks lovely and relaxing. Shame you can’t enjoy a meal on board at the mo, that roast beef sounds delicious. So lucky to have something like this on your doorstep:)
hopefully they will be able to serve food again soon
Grand River Dinner Cruises sounds like a really relaxing experience. We love these kinds of evening cruises where you can just chill and soak in the atmosphere. You are lucky that you have this in your own backyard.
don’t forget the glass of wine lpl
A Grand River Cruise sounds like a lovely way to spend some time. We were supposed to go on a dinner cruise on the Ohio River for my birthday. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to because of COVID. Dang it. Maybe another year.
Hopefully next year
I love dinner cruises and that roast beef dinner sounds delicious indeed 🙂 Would love to try this when I’m in the area!
I was surprised at how good it was
I love finding things to do in my own backyard, too! The Grand River cruise sounds fun. I love exploring a new place by boat- there’s something magical about being on the water!
being on the water is the best!
This looks like a wonderful way to spend an evening! While we have two rivers, we don’t have any river cruises unfortunately.
thats to bad. I love cruising leisurely with wine in hand
Isn’t it fabulous that this is in your backyard. This sounds a perfect getaway for a weekend surrounded by soothing waters. Beautiful.
there’s no place I’d rather be than on the water
We have river cruising here too. It’s really fun. I prefer an evening to night cruise. A dim lit ambiance over few glasses of wine serves the best way to celebrate a weekend. I personally love spending a few hours on the water.
I also prefer the evening cruises. It certainly helps to unwind
Covid 19 is forcing us to discover local and that is not bad at all. I’m also getting to know my city more and more.
Same and I’m discovering tonnes of new things
Really cool that this is in your backyard! I love anything on the water and dinner cruises are so much fun! I’m really happy to learn about these cool dinner cruises and hope to have the opportunity to check them out sometime!
I’m the same. I LOVE being on the water and its even better with good food and a glass of wine.
Good that they’re still running, and I hope they’re managing to get enough business (despite the lack of meals available) to keep their business going. It’s great to see you supporting some local businesses on your doorstep. We all need to do a bit more of this.
I agree. I know that I will be, at least for the rest of this year.
It sounds like a wonderful experience to have. I’m all about exploring my own backyard. Thank you for sharing!
It was so peaceful cruising down the river
Oooh this sounds like it would make a great date! I love eating while watching the world go by…and it looks like such a relaxing place to have a glass of vino. 😉
Hopefully they will start running this again once covid-19 has calmed down.
It was such a great way to enjoy a relaxing dinner. I hope they start doing the dinner’s again soon!
This dinner cruise sounds like such a fun experience. I did one once in Australia and I loved it. Such a great way to see the sights!
It was so relaxing! I just love being on the water
It’s funny – I’ve lived in the area my whole life and have never done this! My husband is from Dunnville so we’ve spent time near the Grand River often, but never a cruise. I’ll have to check it out!
Same with me. I lived in Brantford for 30 years and never did it. I moved to Kitchener and decided I needed to do it lol.
Wow this looks great and can’t go wrong with a nice roast for lunch! Anything away from crowds is my happy place. But what are Blazing Fiddles? I’ve not heard of this act before.
They are a group that plays the fiddle. Its energetic and fun
I love a good boat tour – and this one looks lovely! Thanks for sharing, I hope to hear the Blazing Fiddles one day soon!
it was a really nice cruise and the food was quite good.
Thanks for this post, looks like an amazing thing to in the area and didn’t know about it!
Its fun and the food was surprisingly good
This looks so nice. Alcohol, roast and no tourists? Sounds like my kind of cruise! Thank you for sharing ☺️
its very relaxing
This looks awesome- and it would be an easy road trip for us as we are in Detroit! Thanks for sharing as we never would have known about this if it weren’t for your blog!
unfortunately not many know about it, even locals, and it was so good.
